Christina Dorr Ph.D., Professional Author, Speaker, Consultant, Media Specialist, University Faculty

Now many years later I'm in my 30th year in libraries, public, colleges, but mostly schools. The last few have been middle schools, which I'm loving! My education includes a Ph.D. in children's & YA literature/literacy from the Ohio State University (OSU). I'm so proud to have been mentored by both Rudine Sims Bishop and Janet Hickman. It doesn't get any better than that. I've also loved the last 10 years teaching adjunct for OSU and Kent State University. I have the unique experience of having taught from preschool to grad school.

Shirley Moulton, M.S., Magic Moon's Author

The author has been close, personal friends with Magic Moon for her entire life. He asked her to write some of his stories, so, naturally, she did. He observed the author as she worked professionally with children (for 35 years), which is a much shorter time than the millions of years he’s been around. His author (and best friend) has a few university degrees (which seem like “next to nothing” compared to his vast knowledge), and he is best buddies with her adult children, grandchildren, and sister (who is his illustrator). In fact, he’s part of her family! He became rather excited when YouTube videos with excerpts of his stories were published, especially as some of his worlds don’t have any technology at all.

Elizabeth Raum, Children's Author, Educator, Speaker

I want kids to find history and historical characters as fascinating as I do. People in the past were not cardboard figures but real people who were shaped by the time in which they lived. By getting to know the past, we gain a better understanding of the present and can work to create a better future. When talking about animal or weather topics, I focus on the joy of uncovering new facts. Research, no matter the topic, is a treasure hunt!

Conrad J. Storad, Children's Science & Nature Author

Nonfiction books should be fun. That's my goal with each and every book I write. I have programs to fit every age group and grade level. “Tales from the Sonoran Desert” is designed for primary grade students. I use multimedia, puppets and props to do animated readings for younger children: preschool, kindergarten, or primary and intermediate elementary grade students.

Barbara Ann Mojica, Children's Author, Historian, Speaker

My mission is to inspire, educate and entertain children by making learning about history fun and educational. I use a cartoon-like character, Little Miss HISTORY, to narrate adventures that explore national parks, national monuments and other sites of historical interest. I hope that families will be able to discover new ideas and experience our rich historical heritage.

K. Heidi Fishman, Holocaust Educator, Author

This book is about my mother and her family. It portrays the events they endured during the Holocaust. I spent five years writing the book as I researched the events, people, and places in depth. My mother and I had many, many conversations as I pushed her for more memories. I visited all the places my mother lived over the course of 1940-1945 and I interviewed several other Holocaust survivors who were in the same camps.

The Totally Ninja Raccoons is a series of early chapter books, target audience first through fourth grade. The books are specially structured to encourage reluctant readers. Short chapters, humor, adventure, and one picture per chapter keep kids feeling a sense of engagement and accomplishment as they plow through these stories and ask for more! Each book has the Totally Ninja Raccoons encountering a cryptid — a creature from folklore or mythology, whose existence is not currently confirmed by modern science. The “monsters” are presented in a fun, not-too-scary way, and readers are encouraged to do their own research to make up their minds about the possible existence of Bigfoot, werewolves, thunderbirds, sidehill gougers, the Loch Ness monster, and others.

The Emma meets the Grief Monster book series is dedicated to children (and former children) everywhere. Losses, both great and small, are a part of every human life and it’s time for children to be comforted and reassured in that. Grief is something to experience and express as fully as possible in order to lead a most healthy, fulfilling life. Children are often our greatest teachers. So perhaps the Emma meets the Grief Monster book series will have them teach us by example how to face and then thrive through our losses, fears and life challenges.

Lisa Gammon Olson, Children's Author

Lisa Gammon Olson believe the most important skill we can ever teach our children is “How to be Kind.” Any kindness we do—no matter how small—has the power to change someone’s life. It’s easy to get sucked up into the enormity of life and not think you could ever make a difference. That’s what I like all my books to say. "YOU ARE IMPORTANT...What you Do...Matters!”
