Deborah Dolan Hunt, Children's Author and Professional Speaker
Award-Winning Author and Speaker
Deborah Dolan Hunt is a doctorally prepared nursing professor and author who lives in New York with her family. Her constant companion is Chewy, a Boston Terrier. Deborah has published multiple nursing articles and three nursing textbooks. She is passionate about her nursing role, and enjoys teaching and mentoring students. Her other passion is writing for children. This passion began in grade school when working on a writing project. Working on this project awakened her creative mind, and sparked a life-long interest. She knew that one day she would become a published writer.
Deborah has published several short stories for children and two award-winning children's books with Waldorf Publishers: The One Eyed Pug and Same Inside Different Outside. She has three new books being released in July 2018: Let's Go to the Zoo with Sam and Sue, Cars, Kids, and Fun: Activities for All Ages, and Essential Oils, Teas, and Self-Care. Deborah is an avid reader and loves to take long walks on the beach. She also enjoys painting, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.
The most important thing the author wants readers to gain from her books:
Both of my books address important themes. Same Inside Different Outside is about cultural diversity, the human body, and overcoming fear. The One Eyed Pug is about pet adoption (which could also relate to adopted children), acceptance, love, and overcoming a disability.
Why the author is an authority on the subject of her books:
As a nurse educator, I am quite knowledgeable about the human body. I teach cultural concepts and have also published and presented on various cultural topics. As a life-long dog owner, I have witnessed the transition puppies must go through when they leave their doggy family and come to live with their human families.

Speaking Engagements and School Presentations:
I am very passionate about my writing. When I visit schools, libraries, and other venues I read my books, discuss my creative process, and offer tips on writing and publishing. I also include a question and answer period at the end of my presentation. I also sign books if participants bring a book or buy one at the venue. I do not sell my own books but they are available via Waldorf Publishers, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and many other online sites.
