Diann Floyd Boehm, Children's Author, Educator, Speaker, Illustrator
Children's Author Based in Houston & Dubai
Diann has always enjoyed the art of storytelling and has now taken her imagination to print so she can share her stories with more children and families around the world.
Diann has taught in the U.S. and overseas as an invited teacher and author to both teachers and students.
Diann has acted in musical theater in the U.S. and overseas and takes her experience on stage to command attention and make her speaking and or workshops entertaining and motivational.
Diann is continually learning and has only become a published author and illustrator in the last three years, so she knows what it is like to keep learning.
Diann is a former classroom teacher and was one of the first educators chosen for Steve Job’s Apple Education program in the early 1980s. This program was very innovative for its time as, there was no degree program, and Diann became one of the first self-taught, education technology pioneers who saw the magic of technology as a tool and, working with Apple Corporation began training other teachers. Diann wrote some of the first technology cross-curriculum for teachers and students and was published by "Visions Technology." This experience led to her teaching technology to grades 1-8 and to establishing the Texas Capitol Schoolhouse, to increase awareness among legislators of the benefits of funding technology in the classroom. Diann is also the founder of one of the very first educational sites on the internet, www.internetschoolhouse.com.
The most important thing the author wants readers to gain from her books:
The one most important thing I would want the reader to get out of my books is the feeling of contentment. Knowing that when they read any of my books, they will feel good about themselves and want to be kind to others.
Why the author is an authority on the subject of her books:
I have taught pre-school, kindergarten, 3rd and 4th grade as well as 1-8th-grade technology application into the curriculum. Working with teachers and students over the years gives me the experience to understand what their needs are. I believe my books are ageless and all readers can learn from my illustrations as well as the story. Being a mom of three children gives me experience and insight to a child’s mind as well as recalling my own childhood experiences.
Speaking Engagements and School Presentations:
I am always thrilled to be an invited author as it is my chance to inspire young readers to “Embrace their Imagination.”
It is this theme I use to develop my presentations as well as hands-on workshops with students and teachers.
I enjoy meeting with any educator, parent or person in charge of the day to design a personal presentation or workshop to meet their needs.
My goal is to walk away with attendees to want to continue to develop their imagination by:
increasing their vocabulary
playing with words
express their emotions through words, song, painting, and drawing
give themselves time to take in the world around them by being unplugged
