Come Visit Ancient Egypt!
I enjoy learning about history and art, especially about ancient cultures. I love to travel and visit historic places and museums. I enjoy the outdoors. I built my cabin that sits on a quiet lake in Ontario. I enjoy walking my dog along the Grand River and fixing up my century home. I raised three sons and have taught elementary school for almost 30 years.
The most important thing the author wants readers to gain from his book:
As an elementary school teacher for over 25 years, I could see a need for more historical fiction picture books. Teaching with picture books brings subjects, like history, alive for students. I wrote and illustrated, Pharaoh's Arrow, about a girl living in Ancient Egypt, so teachers and readers could enjoy a picture book story that was also filled with authentic information. Thoroughly researched, Pharaoh's Arrow, is illustrated in Egyptian style with authentic hieroglyphics reinforcing the text.
Why the author is an authority on the subject of his book:
I have taught about early societies, especially Ancient Egypt, for many years. I enjoy teaching through picture books and art. I spent months researching information to include in my book and visited world famous Egypt displays at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC and the Louvre in Paris.
Speaking Engagements and School Presentations:
I enjoy talking about Ancient Egypt (and other early societies) and sharing my picture book, Pharaoh's Arrow. I can talk about the story development of my book, how I wrote the rhyming text, and how I created the Egyptian illustrations in Egyptian style. I can also demonstrate the painting technique that I used to create the feel of papyrus in the illustrations.
