Gina LoBiondo, Children's Author

Award-Winning Children's Picture Books

Born in 1960, author Gina LoBiondo grew up loving faerie tales. She began writing stories of her own when she was 13 and continues to do so today. Her first foray into this exciting business is eleven-time book award winner, Pegasus - A Dragon's Tale, with her next book, her own retelling of the Cinderella story, expected sometime soon. She is also planning a sequel to, Pegasus - A Dragon's Tale. Six-time book award winner, Button Nose the Sad Little Bear, is her second book.

The most important thing the author wants readers to gain from her books:

My stories deal with the theme of friendship and how the characters are accepting of each other despite their differences.

Why the author is an authority on the subject of her books:

I didn't have friends growing up as I was the recipient of bullying, so that theme of lifelong friendship runs through all my stories.

Speaking Engagements and School Presentations:

I've only done one school visit so far, but I read the book to the kids and then answered questions they had about the story. I also showed them photos of the real prince and princess bears and the Build-A-Bears that inspired the story. Afterward I autographed the books they bought from me.
