J.E. Klimov, YA Author, Illustrator, Public Speaker, Pharmacist
Dream. Write. Share.: YA Author of the Fantastical
J.E. Klimov grew up in a small suburb in Massachusetts. After graduating from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, she obtained her PharmD and became a pharmacist; however, her true passion was writing and illustration. From scribbling plotlines instead of taking notes in school, to bringing her characters to life through sketches, J.E. Klimov’s ideas ranged from fantasy to thriller fiction. Her first publication was a short story, "The Guardian’s Secret," in From the Stories of Old, an anthology of fairy-tale retellings. The Aeonians is her debut novel with Silver Leaf Books.
The most important thing the author wants readers to gain from her book:
I wish for my readers to walk away inspired to create. My debut novel is a YA fantasy where I created my own world and my own creatures. I can only hope that once they adventure through my novel, they are ready to starting writing one of their own!
Why the author is an authority on the subject of her book:
I have worked on my debut novel for about fifteen years — many times I wanted to quit. Toward the final stages, I worked with other writers I met through National Novel Writing Month and Scribophile.com. We would critique each other's works, and from that, I believe I have a strong foundation for fictional (primarily fantasy) writing. Finally, I've fought hard and landed a publisher —I also feel I have a lot to give back to aspiring writers.
Speaking Engagements and School Presentations:
I tweak my presentations based on what the audience/school wants, therefore, I'm very flexible. I'm happy to talk about what inspires me, what it took to publish, and/or fitting in my passion despite a hectic life. As a clinical pharmacist, I also speak about how therapeutic writing can be.
