Joan Dee Wilson, Children's Author and Illustrator
Sharing my interest in birds and conservation through my writing and illustration
Writing children’s books draws from my growing fascination of birds. As I continue to learn about their seemingly endless diversities and characteristics, I find content to build my stories. As a commercial artist, illustrating these stories for children’s feels perfect for me. I’m an older mom and grandma of two, a long-time storyteller, and I truly love this path. My earlier years included art school, a studio internship, and a career in automotive advertising spanning two decades beginning in 1972. Currently, my husband and I live in Rochester, Michigan, in our home of thirty-five years, where we raised our three fine children. I am a member of IBPA, SCBWI, and have active participation in Scribes and Rochester Writer’s.

Why the author is an authority on the subject of her book:
It has been a growing interest of mine in the past few years — one that I have enjoyed independently reading about and researching.
