Grandson Creates Series Book Featuring His Grandfather Papa Lemon Helping Youth Learn About History
I was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. When I was in 3rd grade, I used to daydream about my summer trips to my grandparents' house in West, Mississippi. My grandfather, Papa Lemon, fascinated me. In my eyes he was a celebrity! Papa Lemon passed away in 1973. I had such admiration for Papa Lemon, I was inspired to write a children's series book featuring him as the main character. I still reside in Minneapolis, Minnesota with my wife Tracy. I have four adult children DuVale, Nareece, Andrea and Tianna.
The most important thing the author wants readers to gain from his books:
I want readers of the Papa Lemon series to learn more about our nations diverse history lessons.
Why the author is an authority on the subject of his books:
The Papa Lemon Books are historical fiction books. I am not an expert with respect to history. I'm just an author that loved and cherished my grandparents Papa Lemon and Mama Sarah. There are very few series books that feature a grandparent as the main character. My goal is to be get more people excited about their family history and learn more about diverse historical figures.
Speaking Engagements and School Presentations:
My presentations focus on getting the audience excited to learn more about their family history. I tell stories about the special times I had with my grandparents Papa Lemon and Mama Sarah when I visited them in the small town of West, Mississippi. I encourage the audience to learn more about their family by having more conversations with their grandparents about their lives. My most recent book is about Abraham Lincoln and his battle with depression. I have positive written testimonials from the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and a child therapist. Mental health is a topic that needs to be addressed more. A family member struggled with mental health. This inspired me to write a book about this topic.
