Lisa Anne Novelline, Award-Winning Children's Author, Professional Speaker, Mathematics Teacher, Storyteller

Inspired by possibility, and reveling in the magical!

Lisa Anne Novelline is a multi-award-winning writer. She is the author of the Piccadilly and her Magical World picture book series, a universe wherein children can imagine possibilities, experiment with ideas, and dream solutions as rich and diverse as they are.

Having taught both mathematics and problem-solving, she is inspired by her profound commitment to the cultivation of creativity and critical thinking along with her abiding love of nature. She holds a MEd in Teaching and Curriculum from Harvard University, a BS in Psychology from Northeastern University, and a BS in Mathematics from Lesley University. She is a mother of four and lives with her family in Massachusetts.

The most important thing the author wants readers to gain from her books:

Let's dance with the raindrops! My Piccadilly and her Magical World series is all about cultivating creativity and imagination. I strive with these books to reinforce the safety of the children, so they feel bold and unfettered by fear, and then to encourage them to soar with their dreams, think differently, and explore possibilities. The more they practice, the stronger they become.

Why the author is an authority on the subject of her books:

I hold degrees in education as well as psychology. In addition, I am a former teacher of mathematics, and I spent many years coaching Destination Imagination, an organization devoted to the cultivation of critical thinking and problem-solving. Aside from my training, I have always had a passion for this area of cognition. It inspired my lesson-planning and teaching and now inspires my writing in every way imaginable, and perhaps in some ways yet to be imagined!

Speaking Engagements and School Presentations:

I adore working with children. I will tailor my visit to your needs. You provide me with the time frame, the age range, the number of students, and your goals for the visit, and I will be pleased to accommodate you in whatever ways I can. Some possibilities include book reading (with or without props), an activity or "instant challenge," a writing brainstorm and/or workshop, a discussion, a Q and A, a signing, a presentation, etc.

We can delve into characters and practice empathy. We can look at writing itself and how to generate ideas and tell stories. Or perhaps we can just feel safe, share a heartwarming story, and imagine together.
