Author of Leaping Lumberjacks

Sarah MacElroy has a passion for literacy, arts and the great outdoors. She grew up in Dallas, Texas and as an adult has lived all over the world. She enjoys experiencing new cultures and countries. Her parents instilled in her a love of theatre, music, art, and dance when she was very young. She remembers the magic of seeing “The Nutcracker Ballet” for the first time and attending children’s events at The Dallas Symphony fondly. Sarah seeks to share these experiences with children through the pages of her books, and open up new worlds for them.

Sarah is married to Disabled Combat Veteran, Andrew. Together they have four children and a giant Newfoundland dog. They travel the United States in an RV some of the year, but call Texas home when they are not exploring this big, beautiful world.

Leaping Lumberjacks is her debut children’s book, and her fourth published work. She has also written about motherhood in the bestselling You’ve Got This, Mama franchise and the book, Being Mama. Sarah then decided to begin writing stories for her own children and they enjoyed them so much she kept writing more. She has written one for each of her children so far, with Leaping Lumberjacks, being the title she chose to release first. Sarah had the illustrator paint both her husband and oldest son into the story, making it a very special book for them all. The book is made up of twenty-six individually painted canvases that took two years for the talented illustrator, Terie Beth Dillard, to paint.
