Encouraging Children to Read, Rhyme, and Embrace Creativity

Cheryl Denise Bannerman is a local, award-winning, multi-genre author of seven published works of fiction. Even at the age of seven, she would sit for hours on end reading about faraway lands, intriguing characters and intoxicating storylines. By a pre-teen, she was writing poetry for publication and short stories for school that moved the reader to laughter, tears, and sometimes anger.

Ms. Bannerman was an old creative soul from a young age, experiencing way too much ‘life’ than she would have liked. Although her works are fiction, Ms. Bannerman has incorporated many of her personal life’s experiences into her stories. When she is not writing for her next book, Ms. Bannerman is running her 26-year-old virtual B2B Training and Development company based out of her Orlando, Florida, home.

Speaking Engagements and School Presentations:

In celebration of her new release, The Gecko Without An Echo, Cheryl Bannerman would love to share the story of Earl the Squirrel and Tim the Gecko with your younger grades (K-3) in a special reading and discussion about the importance of embracing your creativity.

The Gecko Without An Echo highlights the friendship between a gecko and a squirrel and ends with a moral about friendship and communication. In this beautifully-illustrated rhyming children's book, readers learn great lessons about how friends and family are always there to listen. This is the perfect book for toddlers and school-aged children learning to read, as both rhyme and rhythm help kids hear the sounds and syllables in words and pronounce words phonetically.

Ms. Bannerman is passionate about promoting children’s creativity and increasing literacy and would like to schedule a time to share this passion with the children. In addition to the reading, children will discover how to use their creativity to bring their own stories and characters to life. She has availability Friday mornings starting on the 20th of May 2022. Ms. Bannerman also has Saturday morning available and can host an event Virtually, if that works better for your school.
